GPMI Out in Front on GDPR News, Updates

By Kiko Martinez

If you’re in the global payroll or human resources industry and you haven’t heard about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) yet, you might want to do a little catching up. GDPR is a new regulation that affects how European businesses handle their data storage and strengthen their data protection. When the GDPR takes effect on 25 May 2018 (after a two-year transition period), it will replace the data protection directive of 1995. Its main goal is to give EU citizens control of their personal data and how it is used.

At the Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI), the GDPR is something leaders in the global payroll profession are watching closely. Since the new regulation was adopted in Europe in late April 2016, GPMI has been at the forefront of keeping global payroll professionals well-informed with updated news on the GDPR by offering classes, webinars, and providing articles and video on the data protection regulation.

Here are a few of the ways GPMI has kept its subscribers up to date on GDPR:

  1. Articles in Global Payroll:
  2. News Articles
  3. Classes/Webinars
  4. Videos
  • GPMI produced a video on GDPR that described some of the directives that will need to be in place for the new regulation. The video features Michele Honomichl, Founder and Executive Chairman of Celergo.
